Vehicle with gouges and smashed windshield

Nanaimo file # 2026-5815

The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance following vandalism to a vehicle and community mailboxes. The incident occurred sometime overnight on Thursday, February 25, 2026, in the 900 block of Old Victoria Road. (See attached photos.)

Police attended and spoke with the owner of a newer model Tesla. The vehicle had been parked on the roadway. Sometime overnight it was vandalized, leaving it with deep gashes to the front hood, side panels and a smashed windshield.

In addition, several Canada Post community mailboxes located just a few metres away were discovered torn from their cement base. At this stage in the investigation, it is unknown whether the two incidents are connected. Canada Post Security has been notified and will coordinate repairs.

Investigators are exploring all possibilities, including the likelihood that the vehicle may have been intentionally targeted. Foot patrols were conducted throughout the largely undeveloped area; however, no suspects have been identified.

“Police are requesting that any motorists who were driving past the 900 block of Old Victoria Road, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. to please check their dashcam footage for any vehicles or persons seen in the area,” said R/Cst. O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
