Inspector Andrew Allan

Inspector Allan’s RCMP career has come full circle with a return to Nanaimo—where it all began more than 25 years ago.

Some background about Andrew

  • Andrew started his policing career right here in Nanaimo before going on to build an extensive and diverse RCMP résumé. Much of his career has been spent with Police Dog Services (PDS) and Emergency Response Team (ERT), serving in multiple locations across British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, Nova Scotia, and Alberta. Notably, Andrew served as the Senior Trainer for all RCMP Police Dog Services, shaping training standards and mentoring handlers nationwide.
  • Most recently, Andrew served as a Detachment Commander in Central Alberta, bringing operational leadership and frontline experience to the role.
  • Originally from Victoria, B.C., he attended the University of Victoria before beginning his RCMP career. Outside of work, he’s a proud father to a 22-year-old son who is finishing his studies at the University of Calgary. His spouse is also a public servant, working with the City of Red Deer. In his downtime, Andrew is passionate about riding motorcycles and staying active through regular workouts.
  • With deep RCMP roots, national experience, and a familiar connection to Nanaimo, Inspector Allan is looking ahead with enthusiasm as he reconnects with the community where his policing journey began.
