RCMP seeks public assistance in locating stolen ukelele

The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in locating a ukelele that went missing on August 9, 2026, at recent Nanaimo blues festival. The owner accidentally left it on a park bench and when he returned just ten minutes later, it was gone.

Police are releasing an attached photograph of the instrument and are encouraging residents to keep an eye out for it. Anyone who has seen the ukulele, knows its current whereabouts, or has information about who may be in possession of it is asked to contact police.

The ukelele is 24 inches in length, two-toned dark brown glossed finish wood, with a stripe of blonde wood down the spine. It also has Kala or Fener brand written on it. It has a black leather strap on it and an electronic tuner attached.

"The owner of the instrument is devastated and simply wants it returned, no questions asked, so he can get back to performing," said R/Cst. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP Media Relations Officer.
