Each month the BC RCMP will feature a police dog from around the province including the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS) which includes partners from the Abbotsford, Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody and West Vancouver Police departments.

Natz

Dog’s name: Natz

Dog’s reg number: 1163

Posting: Prince George, BC

Handler’s name: Cst. Matt Gould

Dog’s age: 5 years

Dog’s years of service: 3 years

Working profiles: Frontline duty, narcotics detection and Emergency Response Team

Dog’s favourite toy/reward: An excessively large jute barrel.

Dog’s favourite off duty activity: Dog yoga

Thing that would surprise you about the dog: Natz is obsessed with pillows and likes to steal them whenever he has a chance.

Memorable call: While searching a rural property, a male with warrants fled from a nearby traffic stop. The police helicopter picked up Natz and his handler from a field and flew them to the scene where Natz promptly caught the suspect. On his way back on the helicopter, Natz had a well-deserved nap while flying home.
