On November 8, of each year, members of the BC RCMP Indigenous Policing Services (IPS) join Indigenous veterans to honour members who served in the armed forces.

The National Indigenous Veterans Day is held to recognize the significant contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis members of the armed services many of whom fought in the First and Second World Wars, and Korean War.

Importantly, the day recognizes and addresses the systemic inequities Indigenous veterans experienced on their return home despite serving honourably and courageously during these global conflicts.

The BC RCMP is honoured to stand in recognition of Indigenous Veterans on National Indigenous Veterans Day. “Their courage, sacrifice, and service to Canada deserve our deepest gratitude and remembrance. It is a privilege to honour their legacy and contributions,” says Superintendent Dee Stewart, of the Enhanced Community, Indigenous and Marine Policing Unit.
