Charges laid in shooting investigation

The BC Provincial Extortion Task Force has secured a charge in relation to a shooting that occurred at a Surrey business in the summer of 2025. 

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Surrey Police Service (SPS) received a report of report of damage to the exterior of a business located in 8100-block 128 Street which occurred overnight. Upon police arrival it was confirmed that the damage was as a result of a shooting. There were no injuries reported or damage to surrounding properties. 

SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIS) assumed conduct of the investigation, which was later transitioned to the BC Provincial Extortion Task Force. 

Through Task Force investigative efforts, a suspect was identified and located in Calgary, Alberta. 

On March 27, 2026, the investigative team arrested 22-year-old, Jaskarn Singh in Calgary. The BC Prosecution Service laid a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm in relation to the shooting that occurred July 21, 2025. Singh appeared before the courts in Alberta and was remanded to facilitate his transfer back to British Columbia.  He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing and his next court appearance is on March 31, 2026.

This arrest is a direct result of that unified effort.
