Police investigating school threat incident in Chemainus

Police are investigating an alleged threat made by a student at Chemainus Secondary School in Chemainus.

On March 31, 2026, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were contacted by school staff about alleged threats made by a student and were concerned for their well-being, safety and security of all involved. Police attended the school and, through the investigation, apprehended the student. Although uninjured, the student was taken to hospital for any medical care they might require. 

Police continue to liaise with School District 79 to ensure appropriate supports are provided to families that may feel affected by this incident. 

The investigation is ongoing to determine and evaluate the nature of the alleged threat.
