The RCMP values its longstanding partnership with the Victoria Police Department and is grateful for the significant contributions VicPD has made to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) since its establishment in 2007.

Over the past 18 years, VIIMCU has built a reputation as an outstanding and highly respected investigative unit, demonstrating the strength and effectiveness of the integrated policing model. Its success is a direct reflection of the dedication, professionalism, and expertise of the investigators and support personnel who have served within the unit.

As VIIMCU continues to evolve, we support VicPD's decision to resume responsibility for homicide investigations within its jurisdiction. We will continue to work collaboratively with VicPD and our other partners to ensure a safe, seamless, and successful transition.

The RCMP remains committed to maintaining a strong and positive partnership with the Victoria Police Department. Our shared commitment to public safety and to the communities we serve remains unchanged, and we look forward to continuing to work together in support of those priorities.
