Restorative Justice

What is Restorative Justice?

North Shore Restorative Justice Society is non-profit, charitable organization that began in 1997. Restorative Justice aims to address the impacts of crime and conflict through processes that seek to meet the needs of the victims, offenders and their communities.

Restorative Approaches focus on dialogue, reparation and healing, and are based on the values of accountability and respect. North Shore Restorative Justice is an alternative to the Criminal Court and is open to both youth and adult files.

Restorative Responses are designed to:

  • Provide support and involvement to victims.
  • Help offenders understand the impact of their actions and to take responsibility for the harm caused.
  • Give families and other support people the opportunity to express how the incident has impacted them.
  • Create a mutual understanding to build a consensus for a meaningful, reasonable and fair resolution.

North Shore Restorative Justice works in partnership with the North Vancouver RCMP and West Vancouver Police. For more information please visit their website or contact them at 604.990.7462. Visit the North Shore Restorative Justice website at nsrj.ca.
