North Vancouver RCMP are providing an update to the public in relation to multiple sexual assault complaints made against a volleyball coach.

On December 22, 2024, North Vancouver RCMP received multiple reports that youths had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a volleyball coach while participating in a local volleyball team. Police launched an extensive investigation and spoke to multiple witnesses and victims. A report to the BC Prosecution Service was prepared and submitted.

On July 2, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service formally charged Iraj Mozaffari of North Vancouver with 10 counts, including 3 counts of sexual interference of a person under 16, 2 counts of touching a young person for sexual purpose, and 5 counts of sexual assault. The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2016 and December 2024.

Publication bans have been ordered by the Court regarding the identities of the victims.

“We understand that this news may be upsetting for members of the community and especially for the victims,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. “We would like to thank those that came forward to provide statements. Without their courage, we would not be in the position we are in today.”

“For some, hearing about this may bring on memories of past trauma. If you are a victim, please reach out for support. Our Victim Services Unit can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 604-969-7540. We want you to know we are here, we will listen and we will support you.” said Corporal Sahak.
