Police vehicle damaged during incident at Lonsdale Quay

A man has been taken into custody following mischief to a police vehicle.
On August 10, 2026, North Vancouver RCMP received a call for assistance from BC Emergency Health Services regarding an aggressive patient following a medical call at Lonsdale Quay. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., the first officer arrived on scene, and the man who was the subject of the medical call immediately climbed onto the hood of the police vehicle and repeatedly punched and kicked the windshield, causing significant damage.
More officers arrived on scene and ultimately took the man into custody.
The male was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained while attempting to break the windshield. The officer was also taken to hospital as a precaution after being exposed to debris from the shattered windshield.
The suspect, who is known to police, is facing several charges relating to the damaged police vehicle.
“This was a dynamic and frightening situation for many bystanders who witnessed the incident in a very populated area,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “We are extremely grateful that no one was seriously injured as a result of this incident.”
