Fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Osoyoos

On September 19, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Osoyoos RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a grey older-model Chevrolet Colorado equipped with a ladder and boat rack. The vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 3, east of Osoyoos, when it left the roadway and descended an embankment near Hewitt Road.

Officers attended the scene alongside emergency medical personnel and located two occupants in the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, a 23-year-old Penticton woman succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Kelowna by ambulance. The second occupant was treated for injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision; however, the investigation remains ongoing.

BC Highway Patrol is seeking the public's assistance as investigators work to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. Anyone who witnessed the collision, observed the vehicle's driving behaviour, or has dash camera footage of the grey Chevrolet Colorado between 3:00 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. on September 19, 2026, is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.
