Penticton RCMP arrest person and take handgun off the street

On July 15, 2026, a frontline officer arrested a male in relation to a Motor Vehicle Act offence. The police located and seized a handgun during the investigation. 

The male was identified as 34-year-old, Samuel Prescott-Perrault.

He has since been charged with firearm-related offences, as well as obstruction. He remains in custody.

“This arrest is an excellent example of the proactive work our frontline officers do every day to keep our community safe,” said Staff Sergeant Scott Hanry, NCO/ic of the General Investigative Services for the Penticton RCMP. “The officer’s attention to detail, quick decision-making, and professionalism resulted in a prohibited firearm being removed from our streets and a person being taken into custody. We commend the officer for their outstanding work.”

As the matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.
