Two incidents of racist vandalism at the Orange Bridge; RCMP seek the publics help

On January 15, 2025, RCMP received a report that the Orange Bridge at Falls Street / Pacific Rim Highway had been vandalized. Perpetrators painted over the Every Child Matters sign with a racial slur. The offence occurred on the evening of January 14, 2026.
At approximately 02:00am this morning, RCMP received another report of racist vandalism at the same location; swastikas and a racial slur were spray painted at the site.
Police are asking for anyone with information about these incidents to contact Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police are also seeking any dashcam footage from vehicles that may have been travelling on River Road / Pacific Rim Highway at Falls Road between 9pm and 11pm on Wednesday January 14, 2026, and between midnight and 01:30am on January 21, 2026.
