On Friday March 28th, 2026, Loki Tchir was sentenced to 9 1/2 years for multiple sex offences on youth in Port Alberni. Tchir met minors online and travelled to Port Alberni from Tofino multiple times to commit his offences.
Port Alberni RCMP began an investigation into TCHIR in early 2025; investigators worked swiftly to get Tchir into custody and obtained search warrants for his cellphone, and a residential address where offences occurred.
Tchir's charges include Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and 4 counts of Sexual Interference of a Person Under 16 years.
"There were many distressing aspects to this investigation including the scope of this man's offences and access to minors that began with online communication." - said Corporal Aaron Aasen
