Port Alberni Service BC building fire under investigation

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 4am, Port Alberni RCMP responded to a structure fire at the Service BC building on 8th Avenue; Port Alberni Fire Department were on scene actively working to suppress the fire.

Despite suppression efforts, the building is a complete loss and RCMP are investigating the fire as an arson. Police have a suspect in custody.

The Port Alberni General Investigation Section (GIS) has taken conduct of the investigation. RCMP will be working closely with the PAFD and Office of the Fire Commissioner. 

RCMP are asking anyone with security video or dashcam footage in the area of 4070 8th Avenue to please call Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424.
