Powell River RCMP requests public’s assistance with incident outside of Staples

On July 15, 2025, Powell River RCMP received a report of an alleged assault that occurred outside the front entrance of Staples on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 between 8:05 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

A man was allegedly chased and then punched and kicked by three individuals, all believed to be male. Two of the individuals were seen in the area on bicycles and one was on foot.

Stolen bicycle recovered from woman arrested for theft

On July 14, 2025, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a theft that had just occurred at Canadian Tire. The suspect had allegedly taken items from the store and left without paying. The suspect was identified by Canadian Tire staff and police.

Approximately three hours later, police were conducting patrols on Joyce Ave. and located the suspect pushing a stolen bicycle and carrying bags containing several items that were believed to be stolen.

The suspect was arrested for theft and was later released to appear in court.

The bicycle was returned to the owner by police.

House and vehicle keys found

On June 5, 2025 a key ring containing a set of vehicle keys and a set of house keys was turned into the Powell River RCMP detachment and has not yet been claimed.

On July 14, 2025, an Apple iPhone was found on Mt. Mahoney and has not yet been claimed.
