BC RCMP notifies IIO BC of an incident in Prince George

The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) of an incident in Prince George where a man was injured.

On May 27, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (CFSEU UGET) members were conducting proactive patrols with Prince George RCMP officers in the area of East Perry Road in Prince George and attempted to stop a suspect vehicle. The driver exited and allegedly shot at police before fleeing in the vehicle. Officers followed the suspect onto a Forest Service Road in the Tabor-Ferndale area where an interaction occurred between the suspect and police.

The suspect returned to his vehicle; however, was eventually taken into custody without further incident. The man was provided immediate first aid prior to being transported to hospital with serious injuries. No one else was injured.

The IIO BC is investigating police actions into the incident. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.

The Prince George RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the parallel investigation with respect to the driver’s actions.
