Every year in Canada, the RCMP, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and the Competition Bureau mark March as “Fraud Prevention Month”, an annual campaign that aims to help residents learn about fraud and highlight fraud prevention tips.
Throughout the month, Prince George RCMP will be discussing new fraud trends we’ve seen locally and ways for people to better protect themselves against fraud of all kinds. So, keep an eye on our website and on our social media to learn more about how to identify fraud and how to keep yourself and your family safe from the latest scams and tricks.
“Additionally, we know from looking at our trends from the last year that seniors are often the hardest hit when it comes to financial loss due to fraud. To help address this, over the next few weeks we will be out at coffee shops around Prince George hosting fraud prevention information sessions. We invite any seniors who wish to know more about fraud and how to protect themselves to come and sit with us over a cup of tea (or coffee!) and chat about how they can stay safe from fraud,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
The first of these segments will be taking place this Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Zoe’s Java House, located at 1259 Fourth Avenue.
For further tips on how to protect yourself from fraud or what to do if you are the victim of fraud, visit the BCRCMP Safety Tips website or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
