'Gifting' pyramids

This pyramid scheme targets law-abiding citizens who have no idea they are breaking the law.

Lottery scams

The victims received a phone call/letter or email to say they won a prize but have to send money for duty, taxes, delivery and legal fees. Victims either never hear from the organization again or receive further requests for money.

Canada Revenue Agency

Victims often receive a phone call from a person claiming to work for the CRA who says that taxes are owed.

Rental scams

Confirm the identity of the landlord before paying for rent or deposits.

Bitcoin and gift card scams

Call someone to discuss before making any decisions.
