Three recent fire investigations have been confirmed as arson, and Prince George RCMP has made several recent arrests in relation to two of the incidents.
The first fire occurred on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. on the 1700-block of Third Avenue. Fortunately, in this instance the property damage was minimal as the fire was detected shortly after it was started. Police officers continue to collect information to help determine a suspect in this investigation.
The second fire occurred on Monday, May 18, 2026, near the 1200-block of Fourth Avenue. Police officers were able to determine a suspect by watching available video surveillance from the area, who has since been arrested and released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
The third fire occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, just before 8:30 a.m. near the 2100-block Norwood Street and was quickly determined to be suspicious in nature. Witnesses at the location stated they observed three people running away from the area; police officers located three individuals matching the description a short way away and arrested all three for arson. All three were released on Undertakings with future court dates.
“Currently, there is no indication these fires are related,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for Prince George RCMP. “We would like to extend our thanks to all those who have provided video surveillance and information regarding these incidents; these types of investigations rely on members of the public coming forward with information quickly and is what has helped us effect arrests in many of the recent arson investigations.”
The investigations remain ongoing.
