The Downtown Safety Unit is a team of highly visible uniformed officers which are exclusively responsible for the downtown core of Prince George. While DSU members deal with all complaints in the downtown, the majority tend to be Liquor Control and Licensing Act (LCLA) offences, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences, property crime and all kinds of social issues. They often work in concert with various downtown agencies, shelters and service providers to assist clients in need. They also spearhead the Detachment’s Social Chronic Offender Program. During the summer DSU members can be found conducting bicycle patrols, foot patrols and other proactive duties.
