Quesnel RCMP has recovered a stolen vehicle but is cautioning the public about taking the law into their own hands after the vehicle was involved in a serious collision on Sunday afternoon.

The vehicle, a brown Ford F250, was reported stolen from a property on Pentland Crescent in the early morning hours of October 30, 2026.

On November 1, 2026, the vehicle was spotted near the Kersley General store by a member of the public. The witness then pursued the vehicle at high rates of speed into downtown Quesnel where, shortly before 3:00 p.m., it was involved in a serious collision with an uninvolved Ford Focus at the intersection of Kinchant Street and Carson Avenue.

Police officers have identified whom they believe to be the driver of the stolen vehicle and are currently searching for this individual after he left the scene of the accident. The man is known to police.

“We are reminding the public of the dangers of taking the law into your own hands; thankfully, there were no serious injuries in this collision, but that doesn’t justify the actions of anyone involved. As a member of the public, there is no way for you to know any previous police or criminal history of the person you are dealing with and the dangers you are exposing yourself or those around you to,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP Spokesperson for Northern B.C.

The stolen vehicle was seized by police and towed to a secure location for further investigation. Investigators are looking to speak with any other witnesses to the incident that have not already spoken to police. If you have any information on this incident, you can contact the Quensel RCMP non-emergency line at 250-992-9211.

Quesnel RCMP would like to thank the witnesses who remained at the scene of the accident to speak with police and aid the victims of the crash.

This investigation remains ongoing.
