Richmond RCMP Organized Crime Unit execute search warrants on two residences after alleged illegal marihuana operations discovered.

On May 7, 2021, Richmond RCMP Organized Crime Unit (OCU) executed a search warrant on an alleged marihuana brokerage in the 8000 block of Demorest Drive.  Investigators located and seized various items from the residence including approximately 260 lbs of marihuana, approximately 900 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, approximately 400 grams of suspected fentanyl and a firearm.

On May 17, 2021, Richmond RCMP OCU executed a search warrant on an apartment in the 10000 block of River Drive where an alleged illegal marihuana dispensary was operating. Investigators located and seized various items from the residence including 167 lbs of bulk and commercially packaged marihuana, 3.5 kg of mushrooms, and thousands of commercially packaged psilocybin infused edibles.

At this point, these investigations do not appear to be connected, however, Richmond RCMP continue to receive reports regarding illegal marihuana operations. These operations often have a nexus to organized crime and pose a potential risk to public safety.

Richmond RCMP want to remind the public and specifically Landlords of potential signs to watch for:

  • Strange odours;
  • Covered windows;
  • Lots of individuals coming and going from the residence.

Anyone who may have witnessed, or have information regarding these files, is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212. Should you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit them online at www.solvecrime.ca.
