Richmond RCMP arrest ten passengers following incident at the Vancouver International Airport

Richmond RCMP responded to a report of disruptive behaviour aboard a departing commercial flight at Vancouver International Airport that raised safety concerns and resulted in a delay.

On April 11, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a report of unruly passengers aboard a departing flight at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The passengers were alleged to be non‑compliant with flight crew instructions, creating safety concerns and resulting in a delay to the flight. Richmond RCMP officers attended and worked with airline staff to safely de‑escalate the situation, which included directing passengers to deplane. Ten individuals were arrested, and police are recommending charges of failing to comply with flight crew instructions under the Aeronautics Act and mischief under the Criminal Code. The individuals were later released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in Richmond Provincial Court. There were no reported injuries.
