September 22nd, 2025, marks the two-year anniversary of the tragic on-duty death of Ridge Meadows RCMP Constable Frederick ‘Rick’ O’Brien.

This time of year is always a difficult one for our detachment, and not a day goes by when many of us are not reminded of the void that Rick’s loss leaves behind.

Ridge Meadows RCMP will mark the occasion with a private ceremony and continue to support our officers and staff the best way we can moving forward.

It is during this time, however, that we would like to again express our gratitude for all the wonderful support that the community has provided in the years since Rick’s passing.

Whether that is attending the annual Cst. Rick O’Brien Joint Forces Jamboree aimed at connecting young people and law enforcement, or re-naming the Cst. Rick O’Brien Youth Lounge in Pitt Meadows due to his passion for youth sports, or simply the outpouring of public support that has been shown, words cannot express our appreciation.

All of this has helped build a legacy in his honour that will ensure that the beliefs of what he stood for can continue to live on forever.

This support also underscores the strong relationship that has been built with this community and solidified, even more, a shared commitment to public safety. We are honoured to be your local police service and will continue to work together to create a safer, healthier, and stronger community.

In honour of Rick, lets keep being inspired, keep creating positive change, and never forget the importance of community connection and supporting our future generations.

Thank you,

Superintendent Adam Gander
Officer in Charge
