The Sidney North Saanich RCMP were kept busy throughout the May long weekend as Members dealt with a spike in impaired driving incidents across the Peninsula

Sidney North Saanich RCMP were kept busy on local roadways  conducting traffic enforcement during the May long weekend.  Seven drivers received drivers licence suspensions and some had vehicles impounded when found to be operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or a drug. One  other driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance resulting in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine with charges now pending.

The Sidney North Saanich RCMP want to remind the public that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities on our roads, and police are reminding motorists that choosing to drive while impaired puts everyone in the community at risk.
