Smithers File: 2024-700, 2025-3739 & 2025-3750
On September 29, 2025, Smithers RCMP located a vehicle linked to a prohibited driver. The investigation led to two separate files and multiple charges for Morgan Redlack of Smithers, BC.
Police observed the suspect allegedly driving while prohibited. He was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with driving while disqualified and resisting/obstructing a peace officer, as well as under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving while prohibited/suspended.
A search of the vehicle led to a search warrant being executed at a trailer on Monkton Road on September 30, 2025. Additional police resources provided through the Community Safety and Targeted Enforcement Program (C-STEP) supported the warrant. Police recovered an estimated $10,000 in stolen property, including an e-bike, guitar, and Patagonia waders. The stolen items were confirmed and will be returned to their rightful owners. Morgan Redlack was also charged with two counts of breach of a release order under Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.
“Programs like C-STEP give officers extra time for proactive enforcement that directly benefits public safety,” added Constable Melissa Murray.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved charges on both files. Morgan Redlack was remanded into custody pending a court appearance.
Quotes
“Recovering stolen property is only possible when thefts are reported to police. In this case, timely reporting allowed us to confirm ownership and we will be returning approximately $10,000 worth of stolen items to the community."
