Update: Two bodies recovered from Browning Lake

Squamish RCMP is updating the public that the two individuals who were reported to have fallen from their paddleboard on Browning Lake have been located deceased. 

On May 30, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Squamish RCMP received a report that two paddleboarders on Browning Lake, within Murrin Provincial Park, had entered the water and did not resurface. A coordinated search effort was immediately initiated.

Multiple agencies responded to assist, including Squamish Search and Rescue, the BC Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services, and RCMP Air One. 

On June 2, 2026, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended Browning Lake to continue search efforts. During this operation, both individuals were located and subsequently recovered.

“We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search,” said Squamish RCMP.

Murrin Provincial Park has since been reopened to the public.
