Information Request

Police are seeking information from the public in relation to a suspicious death investigation.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit is investigating the death of a 54 year old woman who was found deceased in her basement suite on 24th Avenue on Monday August 24, 2026.  Criminality is suspected and police are releasing the name of the woman in an effort to further the investigation. 

“The deceased woman has been identified as Tanya Lemecha, who also went by Tanya Thomaser,” states Constable Chris Terleski.  “We believe she recently moved back to Vernon in May of this year and are interested in speaking with anyone who had interactions with her in the time leading up to her death.”

Anyone who had contact with Tanya or who has information that could assist the investigation is asked to please contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171.
