West Shore RCMP investigate arson to vehicles

On September 4, 2025, at approximately 1:25 a.m., West Shore RCMP Frontline officers responded to reports of two vehicles on fire near the 3300 block of Painter Road in Colwood. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang followed by the vehicle fires.

When officers arrived, they observed a black 2021 Cadillac XT4 and a black 2011 Cadillac CTS fully engulfed in flames. Colwood Fire Rescue attended the scene and quickly extinguished the fires. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. No injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made at this time. The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Approximately 6 ft tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing dark clothing
  • Last seen running from the scene

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no risk to the greater public. The investigation is being conducted by West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.

“We believe this was a targeted offense. While these types of crimes are concerning, we want to reassure the community that there is no indication the public at large is at risk,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw, West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.

Police are asking residents in the area to check their home surveillance or dash camera footage on  September 4, 2025, between 1:00 a.m. and 1:45 a.m., as you may have captured images that could assist investigators.
