File: 2026-8712

On May 11, 2026, at approximately 12:54 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a cyclist and a Sterling dump truck near the intersection of Leigh Road and Mantle Heights in Langford.

An officer patrolling in the area was flagged down by several bystanders who were providing first aid to the cyclist, identified as an 82-year-old man.

BC Emergency Health Services attended the scene and, despite lifesaving efforts, the cyclist succumbed to his injuries.

West Shore RCMP extends its condolences to the cyclist’s family and friends during this difficult time.

The investigation determined the collision occurred while the dump truck was executing a right-hand turn. Investigators examined the scene and spoke with several witnesses and have determined that this collision was not criminal in nature, however the investigation is on going.
