The Management Advisory Board (MAB) provides the Commissioner with advice and guidance on key areas of strategic importance. This advice is crucial for setting priorities and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
Alignment with mandates
When setting its priorities, the MAB considers the mandates of both the Commissioner and the Minister of Public Safety. This ensures that their recommendations are relevant and impactful.
The advice from the MAB offers valuable perspectives that help the RCMP in several key areas to:
- modernize our organization by suggesting innovative practices and updated processes
- support our people by providing recommendations to enhance the well-being, development, and effectiveness of our personnel
- serve Canadians by advising on ways to improve the quality and efficiency of services
Review process
The Commissioner reviews all advice and guidance given by the MAB. This ensures that every recommendation is carefully considered and assessed.
The Commissioner provides a written response to each of the MAB's advisory products in a timely manner. These responses address the specifics of the recommendations, outlining the organization's opinion and what steps, if any, we will take to implement them.
Progress to date
The MAB has provided advisory reports and letters with recommendations on several key subjects. We have, in turn, provided responses to them.
Each response details the actions taken or planned to address the recommendations. This shows our commitment to enhancing the administration of our organization using independent advice.

Quarterly engagement
We value our ongoing discussions with the MAB, which include quarterly meetings between the Commissioner, the RCMP Senior Executive committee and the Board's members. These quarterly meetings ensure that both the RCMP and the MAB remain aware of each others' priorities, and continue to advance the work to improve and modernize the RCMP. They also ensure we continue to benefit from the MAB's expertise and strategic insights on key issues.
