RCMP National Memorial Service

The RCMP Memorial Service is held on the second Sunday in September at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division, in Regina. This year's memorial parade will be open to the public.

Event Information

  • Sunday, September 8
  • Gates open at 8 am
  • Gates close at 8:45 am and all guests must be seated
  • Seating will be provided
  • Service starts promptly at 9 am on the Parade Square and ends at approzimately 10 am
  • Public access to to the RCMP Academy is available through the RCMP Heritage Centre entrance at 5907 Dewdney Avenue

Details

The RCMP Academy is an active training site and a secure facility. Access is controlled. Personal items may be searched on entry.

Do not bring your pets. Service dogs are welcome.

The event is free of charge.

Public will NOT attend the chapel service, brunch and procession. These are reserved for returning families, veterans and employees of the RCMP.

Accessibility tips

The RCMP National Memorial Service is outdoors. We encourage guests with mobility needs to arrive early and park closest to the south end of the parking lot.

Sunset Ceremonies

This colourful event includes a foot-drill display, a cannon drill and the ceremonial lowering of the Canadian flag to the playing of Retreat. The event ends with a march past and a formal salute to the review officer.

Public access to the RCMP Academy is available through the RCMP Heritage Centre entrance at 5907 Dewdney Avenue. Gates open at 5 pm and the events start at 6 pm. All Depot Sunset Ceremonies are free of charge.

This event includes live cannon and rifle fire. We recommend you bring hearing protection, especially for young children.

Do not bring your pets. Service dogs are welcome.

Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Seating is not provided.

Sunset Ceremonies are outdoor, community events. These events draw larger crowds who walk from the RCMP Heritage Centre parking lot to the RCMP Academy. We encourage guests with mobility needs to arrive early and park closest to the south end of the parking lot. The RCMP Heritage Centre will operate a vehicle for those with mobility issues.

"Name the Puppy" contest

Every year the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail holds a contest for the children of Canada to help find names for future police dogs. The 13 winners come from every province and territory.
