As modern policing evolves, so does police training. Today's police officer is required to not only have the technical skills, but also the legal and professional knowledge of the job to be effective. The Cadet Training Program places a large emphasis on integrating police skills with academics. Through the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) cadets in training have access to unique services to boost academic learning and personal well-being.

A fully-functioning library provides a wealth of legal and historical references for study. Work stations and a computer lab allow cadets to practice their writing skills. Study areas and breakout rooms provides spaces for exam preparation and studying.

Staffed by a skilled team of librarians and wellness specialists, the LRC supports cadets training in a number of ways. They are uniquely suited to provide academic guidance to cadets to help ensure their success in training. An introductory tour and lecture with the librarian exposes new troops to what the LRC has to offer. Academic supports include time management techniques, public speaking skills, and research support.

The LRC is not only a working area. The library is also stocked with works of fiction, musical instruments, and outdoor sports equipment for cadets to enjoy in their downtime.
