The Cadet Training Program (CTP) is an extensive 26-week basic training course offered in both official languages. The design of the curriculum and the methodologies for delivery are based on the needs identified for quality community policing.

The Training Program Support and Evaluation (TPSE) unit designs and develops curriculum for the CTP. Training Program Support and Evaluation is made up of a team of experts in education who work alongside RCMP officers. The team uses evidence-based processes in educational research and theory to design and develop the program. They also consult with internal and external partners in the community and across the country.

Training does not stop at Depot. TPSE also manages the Field Coaching Program which is a formalized program for invaluable on-the-job experience in which all new members take part. Once new constables arrive at their first detachments, they work alongside an experienced police officer who takes on the role of field coach for 6 months.
