Training Tuesdays: Welcome to Depot

Arriving at Depot is overwhelming and exciting at the same time for new RCMP cadets.

There is no other police force in Canada like the RCMP that provides the levels and variety of services. Working for the RCMP has many opportunities for continued learning and growth. A career as an RCMP member starts with a successful application and training at Depot Division.

Arriving at Depot is overwhelming and exciting at the same time for new RCMP cadets. There are new surroundings, experiences and many new faces. This will be a cadet's home for six months. They will be part of a troop and share a common experience few can understand. Training runs all year long, so new cadets may start in the warmer summer months or the cold winter months.

One of the most notable experiences at Depot is being part of a troop. Each troop has up to 32 cadets and is diverse in composition. Troops act as one: taking meals together, moving around base as a unit and dressing in uniform. It's all about teamwork and communication.
