The RCMP-led Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG) is advising the public of the reopening of the following previously announced closures following the end of the G7 Summit:
- The Notice to Airmen (or NOTAM) and all airspace restrictions will be lifted as of June 18, 2025, at 12 pm (local).
- The Controlled Access Zone (CAZ) established around key Summit venues will no longer be in effect as of June 18, 2025, at 11:59 pm (local). Accreditation will no longer be required for entry into these areas. Motorized vehicles will be able to access Highway 40 from the intersection on Highway 1 to the north winter closure gate at the junction of the Kananaskis Lakes Trail.
- The tunnel on Airport Trail N.E. in Calgary will remain closed through midday on June 18, 2025. Information will be shared on the Calgary Police Service social media channels when the tunnel has re-opened.
- Highwood Pass/Highway 40 will reopen on Saturday, June 21, 2025, for all vehicle traffic.
- The G7 Designated Demonstration Zones in Calgary and Banff are no longer in effect.
- For the latest updates on the status of trails, trailheads and day use areas, visit the Alberta Parks website. There will be a staged reopening of some sites to ensure a safe and sustainable reopening and restoration.
As foreign dignitaries continue to depart Alberta, residents in these communities may see some continued security presence for the coming days as the ISSG clears equipment, and police vehicles, and assists with clean up duties at designated sites. The RCMP ISSG thanks the public for their patience and support in maintaining a safe and accessible environment for all.
