Scott McMurchy
Assistant Commissioner

Assistant Commissioner Scott McMurchy joined the RCMP in 1990. He was first posted in F Division to Southey, Saskatchewan, followed by postings in La Loche and Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. In 1998, he was transferred to the Regina Integrated Drug Unit and then in 2002 was promoted to Corporal at Yorkton Municipal Detachment.

In 2005, he was promoted to Sergeant as the Detachment Commander at Gillam, Manitoba where he served until 2008. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant District Advisory Non-Commissioned Officer for Manitoba North District in Thompson, Manitoba.

Assistant Commissioner McMurchy was commissioned to the rank of Inspector in 2014 and served as the District Operations Officer for Manitoba RCMP's North District. He has served in a number of roles in Manitoba, including Officer in Charge, Community and Indigenous Policing and Federal Serious and Organized Crime. In 2018 he was promoted to Superintendent and took on the role as the Provincial Support Services Officer and Deputy Criminal Operations Officer. In 2023 Scott was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent in the role of Criminal Operations Officer for D Division.

Scott is married to his wife Karen who is a Public Health Nurse currently working for the Winnipeg Health Authority. They have been married for over 25 years and have one daughter, Abbey.

Scott was born in Manitoba and grew up in The Pas. He is a graduate of the University of Manitoba (Bachelor of Arts - Criminology). Scott is an avid sports enthusiast and continues to play hockey. He and his family enjoy the outdoors and spending time at the lake, boating and fishing and spending time with family and friends.
