Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services make arrest after homicide

On August 24, 2025, at approximately 8:50 pm, Manitoba First Nation Police Service members were alerted to a deceased male inside a residence in Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN).

Upon attending the scene, and due to the nature of the injuries to the deceased, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services were called to assist, and took carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy confirmed the death to be a homicide.

The investigation determined that three individuals were socializing with the deceased when an altercation broke out and the 34-year-old male victim was shot.

A 27-year-old male, Wyatt Campbell, was arrested on August 27, 2025, in Moose Lake without incident and charged with 2nd degree murder. Wyatt has been remanded in custody until his court appearance.

Officers from The Pas RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, Moose Lake RCMP, and Manitoba First Nation Police Service assisted in the investigation.

Manitoba Major Crime Services continues to investigate.
