Manitoba RCMP arrest male for forcible confinement after pursuit

Officers from the Red River North Detachment and Eastman Traffic Services began searching for the vehicle, a black Chrysler 300. The vehicle was located shortly before 4 pm behind a business on Henderson Highway in Lockport. The male driver did not comply with police and fled the scene. A tire deflation device was utilized but failed to stop the vehicle.
RCMP pursued the suspect vehicle east on Highway 44 to Garson where the pursuit was terminated. Over 25 RCMP officers from 10 detachments, including the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS), were involved in the search for the suspect vehicle.
At approximately 5:45 pm, the vehicle was located on a farm property, along Highway 12, in the RM of Springfield. The suspect was located inside the vehicle and arrested without incident.
The 38-year-old female victim, who was located a short distance away, sustained minor injuries.
The driver, a 49-year-old male, has been remanded into custody on the following charges:
- Forcible confinement
- Fail to stop while being pursued by police
- Operate motor vehicle while prohibited
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Uttering threats
- Assault
As the incident relates to intimate partner violence, the accused will not be identified.
Red River North RCMP, with the assistance of the Manitoba East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), continue to investigate.
