Selkirk RCMP seize multiple firearms in relation to weapons trafficking investigation

On September 22, 2025, Selkirk RCMP were made aware that a male from Winnipeg was purchasing firearms with someone else’s Firearms Licence and was purchasing other illegal weapons from out of country. An investigation was launched.
On January 8, 2026, Selkirk RCMP executed three search warrants within the Rural Municipalities of St Andrews and Armstrong as well at an address in Winnipeg after a lengthy investigation of weapons trafficking within the Manitoba East District.
Selkirk RCMP, with the assistance of the Manitoba RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), as well as the Winnipeg Police Service, executed the warrants and seized multiple firearms.
A 43-year-old male, from Winnipeg, was arrested and released on conditions with a pending court date. He will be facing charges in relation to multiple weapons offences including:
- Unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorised
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorised
- Weapons trafficking
Selkirk RCMP, with the assistance of NWEST, continue to investigate.
