On March 9, Virden RCMP received a report that a home in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth had been broken into for a fourth time in three days.

The owner, who lives in Winnipeg but frequently visits the community, had reported the first break and enter on March 7. Numerous items had been taken from the home.

While waiting for officers to arrive at a friend’s, the home was broken into a second time, with more items taken.

After spending the night at a relative’s, the owner returned the following day to finish securing the residence and noted a third break and enter had been attempted.

On March 9, the owner received a call from a neighbour after returning to Winnipeg that four people were attempting to break into the property. A truck driven by a female was observed picking up the four suspects and driving away from the scene. The vehicle was found three days later, abandoned in a ditch near Virden.

Three Sioux Valley Dakota Nation males were arrested this week in connection with the incidents.

Brayden Jenkins, 26, and 19-year-old Laias Jenkins have been charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000;
  • Possessing break-in instruments; and
  • Mischief under $5,000.

Julius Jenkins, 23, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent x2;
  • Breaking, entering and committing;
  • Mischief under $5,000; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

The three suspects remain in custody.

RCMP continue to investigate and more arrests are expected.
