On March 23, 2026, at 8:15 pm, Niverville RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver on Provincial Road 200, north of the intersection of Provincial Road 305, in the RM of Ritchot.

The complainant explained that the vehicle was stopped in the middle of the northbound lane. The two occupants were sleeping inside the vehicle, creating a traffic hazard. Police arrived on scene and noted the vehicle parked in the dark, with no lights on. Inside the vehicle were two females who were both sound asleep.

Once the driver was awakened, officers noted signs of impairment to which she was subsequently arrested for. The driver, a 42-year-old female from Emerson, was taken to the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP Detachment where she provided samples of her breath which were found to be over twice the legal limit of 80 mg%.

The driver, who will face charges of Impaired driving over 80 mg%, was released for court scheduled for May 15, 2026, in Winnipeg. Her driver’s licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded.

Niverville RCMP continue to investigate.
