Chemawawin RCMP looking for suspect in violent assault

Chemawawin RCMP are looking for a 33-year-old male wanted in connection with a violent, hours-long assault that occurred at a residence in the community on Sunday.
The assault was reported to RCMP on March 29, at approximately 9:45 a.m. Officers learned a female victim had been assaulted throughout the previous night by a male suspect. The suspect, who knew the victim, struck her with punches, kicks and various weapons.
The victim eventually escaped and called RCMP. She was taken to hospital for treatment of multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
A warrant of arrest has been issued for Darren Lachose, 33, of Chemawawin Cree Nation.
He has been charged with several offences, including:
- Aggravated sexual assault;
- Aggravated assault;
- Forcible confinement;
- Uttering threats x2;
- Mischief under $5,000; and
- Breach of recognizance x2.
