Winnipegosis RCMP lay charges after male barricaded himself inside garage

On March 30, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Winnipegosis RCMP received a report relating to a male making threats to others and had barricaded himself inside his garage with a firearm.
Out of an abundance of caution, residents inside the adjacent home – as well as neighbours – were evacuated while RCMP dealt with the incident. An RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team, Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, West District GIS (general investigation section) and the West District Containment Team were called in to assist.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., the suspect exited the building and was safely taken into custody.
A 41-year-old Duck Bay male faces numerous charges, including:
- Assault;
- Resisting a peace officer;
- Multiple weapons/firearms related offences;
- Uttering threats; and
- Failure to comply with conditions x3.
The suspect remains in custody.
