On April 1, 2026, at 11:40 p.m., Selkirk RCMP were notified of a home invasion that had just taken place at a residence on Mclean Avenue in Selkirk.
Officers responded immediately and spoke to a male resident who advised a male suspect, known to him, had kicked in the door of the home.
The suspect demanded money from the victim and assaulted him with a knife before fleeing on foot. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was treated by EMS on scene.
A description of the suspect was provided and officers -- including Manitoba RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) – began patrolling the area.
A short time later, the suspect was located walking on Main Street by PDS Stewie and was arrested without incident.
Chad Langlois, 41, of Scanterbury, has been charged with the following:
- Assault with weapon x3;
- Assault causing bodily harm; and
- Breaking and entering with intent.
It is believed that this was a targeted incident and that the victim and suspect are known to each other.
Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
