Blue Hills RCMP charge male after shots fired inside Souris-area home

On April 5, at approximately 6 p.m., Blue Hills RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired inside a residence north of Souris.
Officers learned an armed male was at the home and that multiple shots were fired by the suspect during an altercation with one of the people inside. He ignored multiple orders from officers using a loudspeaker ordering him to leave the residence.
Shortly after 9:15 p.m., RCMP entered the home and arrested the suspect, who resisted. No one was injured.
Officers located and seized a prohibited firearm inside the home, as well as ammunition and a tactical vest.
A 35-year-old Souris-area male faces charges of:
- Forcible confinement;
- Assault;
- Resisting a peace officer;
- Mischief under $5,000;
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose x2;
- Possession of weapon contrary to order;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Carless use of a firearm; and
- Possession of a restricted firearm.
He was remanded into custody.
