Four males fined after street racing incidents

On April 8, 2026, at 11:40 p.m., RCMP officers were travelling south on Life Sciences Parkway in Steinbach, when they observed two vehicles speeding away side-by-side at a high rate of speed.
Police witnessed both vehicles turn on to Highway 52, towards downtown, without stopping at the stop sign at the intersection. Police emergency lights were activated both vehicles pulled over. The drivers, two 18-year-old males from La Broquerie, each received a ticket. One driver was served with a $203 fine for driving imprudently while the other was served with a $672 fine for driving carelessly.
On April 11, 2026, at 8:11 p.m., Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services observed two vehicles revving their motors at a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Barkman Avenue, in Steinbach, before racing off down Main Street at a high rate of speed when the light turned green.
Both vehicles were quickly pulled over by police and the drivers admitted to racing.
A 20-year-old male from Dufresne and a 20-year-old male from Ste Anne were each served with a $672 fine for racing another vehicle, in addition to a serious offence notice for a licence review with MPI, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
“Extremely dangerous driving behaviours are directly linked to serious injuries and fatalities each year on our roads”, said Sergeant Joanne Ryll, of the Steinbach RCMP. “Everybody deserves to feel safe either while walking, biking and driving in Steinbach. Speeding and reckless driving will not be tolerated on our streets”.
