Portage RCMP investigate trespassing, charge male for possessing break-in instruments

On April 19, at approximately 6 :05 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a female seen trespassing on private property.

The incident occurred on Tupper Street North in Portage la Prairie. Officers responded to the home and noted the dead bolt of the back door had been drilled out and the shed door was off its hinges. RCMP located a male matching the suspect’s description at the edge of the property and arrested him for trespassing.

A metal pry bar was found inside the suspect’s bag while bolt cutters were found on the ground nearby.

A 26-year-old Portage la Prairie male faces charges of:

  • Possessing break-in instruments; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime.

The suspect was held in custody, as he had a warrant of arrest for breaching a release order.
